Semayawi (Blue) party chairman, Eng Yilkal Getnet, met with US State Department officials on Tuesday May 5, 2015. In his meeting with Mr. Steve Feldstein, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor and his staff, they discussed wide ranging topics pertaining Ethiopia and the region.
The topics included among others, upcoming election, human rights, religious freedom, freedom of expression, civil societies, terrorism and security in Ethiopia and the horn of Africa. Mr. Feldstein raised several detailed questions regarding Semayawi party for which Mr. Getnet provided responses. The discussion also included the recent misstatement by Under Secretary Wendy R. Sherman. Details of the extended meeting will be released soon.
